New York State Comptroller has new online claiming program
for unclaimed funds/money. The Online Claiming Program is a fast, easy and
secure way to claim your lost money. Claims for many types of accounts can be
submitted online if the information you provide matches our records. If the
account you are claiming is not eligible to be submitted online, or if you would
rather submit your claim by mail, complete the claim form online, print it and
mail it in to New York State Comptroller. If you do not find your name on the
list, but think you may have unclaimed funds, you can contact New York State
Comptroller for a more thorough search.
Step by Step to get Unclaimed Funds/Moneys
1. Search for Lost Money! Search for Lost Money!If you are searching for funds owned by an individual, enter the last name of the property owner in the field labeled Last Name (required) and enter the first name in the field labeled First Name (optional). Choose the “Search” button. You will be taken to a page listing properties matching your criteria.
2. If you found a match select the Name or Address for more information about the item you wish to claim. You will be asked to answer a few questions if the item is eligible to be claimed online.
3. If you eligible to Claim Online your money, you may be given the option to claim the item online. Step-by-step instructions are provided throughout the process.
4. If you choose not to claim online or if the item is not
eligible to be claimed online, select the item you wish to claim from the search
results, then select the Mail Form link. You must enter your full name and
current address to generate a claim form. After you enter the required
information:
- Print the form;
- Sign the form and have your signature notarized by a licensed notary public;
- Attach the Required Documentation;
- Mail completed form to: The New York State Comptroller’s Office of Unclaimed Funds, 110 State Street, Albany, NY 12236
